People’s thirst for material sense enjoyment is insatiable, yet they repeatedly pursue the same pleasures, hoping to find happiness. This futile pursuit leaves them deeply dissatisfied and creates hellish conditions both individually and socially. Our relationship with everything in this world is centred on Krishna, who is the proprietor of everything. When we try to relate to others or to material things independently of Him, our efforts are bound to fail and leave us dissatisfied. Because we look for happiness in the wrong places, we inevitably become frustrated and end up blaming others for our unhappiness.

Actually, our relationship with everything in this world is centred on Krishna, who is the proprietor of everything. The cause of our dissatisfaction is that we try to establish relationships with other living entities or with the objects of this world independently, as if we had the capacity to do so. Therefore, all these endeavours are bound to fail because they are futile from the very beginning.

The essence of the soul’s eternal nature is to surrender to the Lord and enter into a harmonious relationship with Him. By doing so, we can also enter into harmonious relationships with other living entities, who are His parts and parcels, as well as with the Lord’s energy, material nature.
