The real glory of Lord Ramacandra is that because of the compassion and love of His devotees, He accepts a body which is suitable for His pastimes and He conducts His glorious activities to please Himself and to please His devotees. The Lord comes here to conquer over our hearts. When we remember His pastimes, we become free from the bondage of karma.

We all have envy, we wish evil to others, but if we have even an atom of envy in our heart it will bring about our new life in this material world. The cause of this envy is our ego. To get rid of this envy we should read pastimes of the Lord again and again. By understanding that the Lord loves us, and He is ready to sacrifice everything for our sake, by experiencing His love, experiencing that He loves everyone we will be free from envy.

Krisna Himself embodies all the emotions or rasas, different incarnations of the Lord have different rasas. Lord Ramacandra is the embodiment of karuna-rasa or grief. Any emotion in the spiritual world is pure, therefore if we experience grief of Lord Ramacandra we will be purified from the tendency to experience material grief. Our life in this material world is tragic from beginning to end, and even when the Lord comes to this world, His life also becomes tragic. If we grieve together with Him, this grief is purifying. Lord Ramacandra did not come to kill Ravana, He came to experience karuna-rasa, and to give us the experience of this karuna-rasa.

Lord Ramacandra teaches us that we should live our life in a perfect manner, trying to perfectly follow His example. We should perceive all the adversities in our life with a very sober heart, without making them into obstacles, and we should know that the main thing in this world is love. The only way to develop relationships is to follow dharma. Following dharma or duty means doing something that you don’t want to do, but when you do your duty, the spirit of sacrifice is invoked in the other person.

We will not be able to appreciate the glories of Lord Krisna unless we understand what Lord Rama is teaching us - how to deal with other people, how to care for them. Lord Rama is ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of His devotees, and His devotees are ready to sacrifice everything for Him.
