Caitanya Mahaprabhu is a unique figure among all the numerous saints and acaryas in India. He is not an ordinary, not even a very unique saint, He is God Himself. But He did not come to establish Himself as God, He gave us the true object of worship – Krisna.
Krisna was worshiped before but the worship was either mixed with the worship of Lord Narayana or the mood of worship was not exactly the same as the mood depicted by Sukadeva Gosvami. Caitanya Mahaprabhu revealed the truth in a very simple way. He gave the most wonderful understanding of the most wonderful scripture - "Srimad-Bhagavatam". Lord Caitanya revealed the rasas of "Srimad-Bhagavatam", or nectarian tastes of relationship between the Supreme Lord and the souls in Vrindavan. He also revealed that the highest message of the Vedas is personal love to Krisna.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s concept of Radha and Krisna is absolutely unique. He said that the supreme divinity is not Krisna, the supreme divinity is love, which bounds Radha and Krisna. The supreme abode of Krisna is Vrindavan, and madhurya rasa is the highest rasa of all rasas.
There are four primary rasas: 1) dasya rasa or the relationship of service; 2) sakhya rasa or friendship; 3) vatsalya rasa or parental relationship. Those three rasas are called madhurya because the sweetness eclipses the majesty of the Lord, therefore it allows the most intimate relationship between the Lord and living entities. 4) parakiya rasa or relationship between boy and girl outside of wedding.
To enter into a very complex relationship you have to be very pure. Therefore we need to develop dasya rasa. By serving the movement of Lord Caitanya we will purify our heart, and when our heart is ready to become a proper receptacle for all these rasas, Lord Caitanya will reveal these rasas to us.
Lord Caitanya is distributing love of God with one hand and Lord Nityananda is doing it with two hands. We can get the mercy of Lord Caitanya through Lord Nityananda. When we get the mercy of Lord Caitanya we can get the mercy of Radha and Krisna.
